Robotics involves design, creation, development and maintenance of robots. While autonomous systems are the next step in robotic technology that can interact independently with the complexities of the real world environment.  The core technology behind robotics and autonomous systems is electronics.  Electronics is the technology that transforms ordinary mechanical devices into autonomous and semi-autonomous machines that can be used to replace human effort. From driverless cars and autonomous drones to industrial production lines, robots are revolutionizing the world we live in and it is electronics which is the enabling technology which makes this possible.

The computer processors that are the brains behind any robot are made with electronics.  Robots receive their instructions via electronic interfaces.  Electronic control systems are used by robots to operate the electric servos and electric motors that enable a robot to move and perform physical functions.   Electronic sensors provide feedback to the robot about its environment, while electrical power management and distribution systems deliver the required electric power the various components of the robot needs to operate.

Without electronics, robots would just be dumb mechanical machines.  Electronic engineers transform ordinary machines into modern technological marvels.  Our Electrical and Electronic Engineering degrees now provide the option of majoring in automous systems which.will not only provide you with  provide the broad range of electronic, electrical and computer systems knowledge you need to work in robotics, but also open up career options in many related fields including IT, mechatronics, medical electronics, avionics and telecommunications.
